March 13

Hello parents,

I hope all is going well.  Spring is upon us and that means testing is approaching.  The testing schedule is as follows:  April 14 English Test, April 21 Writing Test, May 12 Math and May 19 Science.

I wanted to remind you of the gala this Friday at HUB 801.  It should be a blast!

I’m planning the spring field trips.  They will be happening in April and May.  The sixth graders have a field trip to the Clark planetarium on March 22.  A field trip form should be coming home in the next couple of days.

Our April home project is going to be a state study.  Your student will pick a state, receive a rubric and complete the project by mid-April.  Be looking for a rubric to come home.

We had an in-class spelling bee.  Camryn and Karter were our winners!  Congratulations!

We just got a new class pet, a baby corn snake.  The students LOVE her!!!  Her name is Najah.  I couldn’t believe their reaction.  The snake is harmless and a student can hold it without danger.  I will be sending home a consent form for your student to help feed and care for the pet.  Please sign it and return it.  If you don’t want your student handling the pet, please email me and don’t sign the form.  Due to the great opportunity to have quite a few pets in our classroom, I’m asking for help with the food and care items.  I created a wejoinin sheet for you to sign up to help.  It really is getting expensive.  https://www.wejoinin.com/sheets/gmzoj  You need to only sign up once for the whole rest of the year.  Thank you!  Having these pets gives your students a lot of joy!

This is what Najah look like.

This year is going so fast.  Our sixth graders just “shadowed”  in the junior high.  They got to go the junior high for a day and see what it is like.  Ask them about it.

I hope you all have a great week.

Sincerely,

Ms. Shanan
